How to read the 29.96 m figure: it is the total tunnel system length. It is not the dimension of one individual panel, and the 80 mm thickness is the panel thickness used on this tunnel — not a general recommendation for tunnels of similar size.
PROJECT OVERVIEW

The tunnel at Acuario Nautilus

Acuario Nautilus is a public aquarium in Peru. The acrylic tunnel is a walk-through run with a total tunnel system length of 29.96 m, 3,000 mm wide and 2,600 mm high: visitors move along a concrete walkway while the acrylic arch carries the water and the themed rockwork on both sides and overhead.

The run does not stay straight — it turns through a curved corner section, visible in the photographs taken from the tank side before flooding. The tunnel is built from 80 mm curved cast-PMMA segments joined in sequence, and the joint lines follow the arch at each panel edge.

PG Acrylic supplied the acrylic tunnel panels for the project in 2020.
